Interior design is a very personal experience for both the client and the interior designer. We take pride in managing the details to ensure the finished product is breath-taking in its design and execution. Here is an overview of what to expect during the design of your new space.
- Phase I – Programming
The question stage! We start by gathering and analyzing information about your lifestyle, personal taste, and any design challenges you might have. This allows us to customize the design to your individual needs and desires. We will help you estimate a reasonable, realistic budget and schedule for your project.
- Phase II – Conceptual Design
Now is the time to brainstorm and put our creative minds to work for you! We immerse ourselves in your project incorporating your needs and wishes for your home or business. We understand the importance of showcasing the ultimate expression of you. During this period we gather inspiration from images, fabrics, textures, and materials. We produce numerous rough sketches incorporating as many unique ideas that fit your project’s parameters. We then review all the possibilities and continue by developing only the best concepts.
- Phase III – Specification Documentation
During this phase we take the fully developed concept and translate it into technical drawings; this allows for clear and accurate communication with the contractor and sub-trades. Detailed computer-generated working drawings and specifications outline the materials usage, position, and installation methods. We can assist you in selecting the perfect plumbing fixtures, light fixtures, and any other materials you may require. Our designers will also aid in determining their locations and sizes, as well as accurately record all of this information to ensure a spectacular finished product. This phase is often over-looked as people may not clearly understand the importance of documenting all of the pre-determined locations, layouts, and customized directions for installation. Keep in mind that lighting and plumbing rough-ins need to be located onsite long before the drywall goes up and the cabinets are installed, carefully dimensioned drawings ensure that those details aren’t missed. We focus on combining the creative vision with the technical drawings to ensure that the finishes product is flawless.
- Phase IV – Bidding and Negotiation Phase
During this phase of your project you will receive proposals from a variety of contractors of your choice. This process allows you to make an educated selection based on qualifications, price, and availability. If need be, we can provide a list of contractors for hire, review their bids, and assist in negotiating a contract. A strong, skilled construction team is vital to ensure success of a project and allows the client and designer to concentrate on what is truly important: the details.
- Phase V – Construction
The construction phase is where we get to watch as the design comes to life!! We are always available to answer questions, review submittals and shop drawings, and ensure the quality progression of the project. We will guide you through the final selection of fixtures and finishes, and we will assist the trades with any questions they may have. At the end of this phase, we will walk you through your new space to ensure that your vision has been fully realized.
- Phase VI - Decorating
The final stage of the design process is the careful selection of furniture, artwork, and accessories to compliment your interior and enhance your personal style. The graceful lines of drapery can add movement, filter light, or set the stage for a very clean- line, contemporary interior. Custom furniture, fabrics, toss pillows, area rugs, blinds, and accessories all play a very important part in creating the perfect backdrop for your daily life.
