Oxford House | A Traditional Estate Reimagined

Set beneath a canopy of Garry oaks in Victoria's historic Uplands neighbourhood, Oxford House honours the quiet grandeur of a traditional estate while introducing a fresh contemporary sensibility. Surrounded by manicured gardens and framed by original windows, French doors, and gracious architectural bones, the home was reimagined to feel warm, enduring, and deeply connected to its origin.

At the heart of the home, the kitchen was relocated to create a natural rhythm between cooking, gathering, and entertaining. A nearly 15-foot mitered quartz island anchors the space and is detailed with a flush butcher block workstation that brings warmth and function to the sculptural form. Panel-ready appliances, concealed storage, and a hidden walk-in pantry allow the kitchen to remain beautifully composed, while thoughtful details and modern luxuries quietly support the ease of daily life.

Craftsmanship seamlessly carries through each layer of the interior. To preserve the historic integrity of the home, original narrow-plank oak floors were refinished, while custom oak crown moulding was introduced to echo existing profiles. Featuring warm oak cabinetry and a locally crafted plaster hood, we were able to introduce a feeling of old-world aesthetic, while antique brass finishes added texture, warmth, and a sense of artistry.

Balancing heritage detailing with contemporary convenience, Oxford House is a home shaped by intention, craftsmanship, and quiet confidence. Elegant yet livable, traditional yet current, this design captures the beauty of a traditional estate thoughtfully reimagined for modern family life.
